Main areas of discussion:

  • Progress from Ofsted – recommendations from GOSW
  • Cambridge Education work plan/ fit for purpose
  • development of the 2011-2014 childrens plan
  • delivery of last year of 2010 childrens plan
  • name & function of SPLG  – Now to be named …Childrens Trust Management Team

What did I contribute to the meeting? 

Children’s plan 2011-2014 recommendations with regard to wider stakeholder involvement & arrangements.  (especially considering VCS)

 BIG ISSUES for the VCS needs to respond to – positive or negative 

None except preparation for influencing year 2011-2014 childrens plan which work will start on soon.

Workforce Reform Steering Group 28/5/2010

The meeting covered the E-academy launch, Contact Point (now scrapped), and common induction and training and the issues this presents to the voluntary sector.

Sites & Premises 10th May (Economic Forum)

The meeting covered an update about the work of the CDC, discussion about 106 agreements, the InvestinCornwall scheme, and the Bodmin Master Plan amongst other topics.

Environment Kernow May 2010

  • New Chair elected, Judy Proctor from Environment Agency
  • Discussions continued regarding Performance Reward grant from the LAA particularly linked to the work of a communty organisation. Funding had been obtained but not as much as anticipated, further work will be undertaken to see if this can be increased.
  • Cornwall Council Waste Department planning further work with VCS, particularly around a collaborative location in the Pool area.
  • Strategic Action Plan being developed for Cornwall’s environment
  • Sustainable Community Strategy re-fresh being undertaken, concern that it will again have a short term focus and not look at longer term challenges.
  • Local Transport Plan being developed by Cornwall County, Community Transport must be included.
